Welcome to Sacred Heart

*SEE VIDEO Below for a MESSAGE from our Pastor Father Philip

For over 100 years, Sacred Heart Catholic Church has been serving the people of Montgomery County, Texas while watching the area grow and change from generation to generation. Although there has been continual change surrounding Sacred Heart Catholic Church over those 100 + years, one thing has not changed — the commitment of our parish to the faith through devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ. Change continues at Sacred Heart. We recently completed Phase II of Sacred Heart Parish’s Master Plan. Phase II included building our new Church, purchasing and renovating our Parish Life Center, upgrading safety features of our facility so we can offer a licensed Early Learning Center, and updating and expanding our prek3 to 8th grade school’s footprint.

Next, our plans include renovating the Archangels Fellowship Hall, adding a parking garage and an evangelization center. All of these changes help the people of faith gather together for prayer, worship, evangelization, service to the poor and fellowship as part of a community of faith. As a parish community, some of our proudest moments are the children served through our religious education programs and our school creating the next generation of Catholics to serve her locally and to share the message of Christ throughout the world.

Whether you are a visitor to Sacred Heart Parish, a returning Catholic to Sacred Heart, a newcomer to the Montgomery County area or someone with an emerging interest in the Catholic faith, I and all the parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish welcome you to our home. I have enclosed some materials that introduce current happenings around the parish for your use. I also direct to our parish website, www.shconroe.org, for additional information including information on our school, our early learning center, our many ministries, sacraments, a video of our 100 year history, and a brochure full of information about the symbolism incorporated into our Church dedicated in November 2018. Our clergy and staff contact information can also be found on the website. I certainly hope you will acquaint yourself with all what the parish has to offer and find something that interests you. I encourage you to become an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me, or any other member of the parish staff, by calling the Parish Office at (936) 756-8186 or parishoffice@shconroe.org.

Sincerely in Christ,

Reverend Philip Wilhite, Pastor

C-5: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke   24:13-16, 28-35

That very day, the first day of the week,

two of the disciples of Jesus were going

to a village called Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem,

and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.

And it happened that while they were conversing and debating,

Jesus himself drew near and walked with them,

but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.

As they approached the village to which they were going,

he gave the impression that he was going on farther.

But they urged him, “Stay with us,

for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.”

So he went in to stay with them.

And it happened that, while he was with them at table,

he took bread, said the blessing,

broke it, and gave it to them.

With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,

but he vanished from their sight.

Then they said to each other,

“Were not our hearts burning within us

while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?”

So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem

      where they found gathered together

the Eleven and those with them, who were saying,

“The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!”

 Then the two recounted

what had taken place on the way

and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

 The Gospel of the Lord.
